Angels Senior Living at Sarasota

Now that my sister is finally gone from Angels, and I don't have to worry, I can finally enter a review. The reason she was there for so long is a sad story. This place is AWFUL! Having visited my sister over the years (I live in a different state), I can say that I have been disgusted every time I have visited. Most visits, the smell of poop permeated the memory care unit. Other times, either strong disinfectant or other foul smells. My sister needed a daily personal care assistant because the staff left her in poopy diapers and unclean. A scabies outbreak almost killed my sister, as she was given oral ivermectin - not acceptable for older adults - and it shut down important metabolic systems. Getting her external ivermectin required hiring an outside nurse because Angels didn't apply it. My sister ended up in the hospital again with "crusted scabies." The only good to come out of that was that her POA finally agreed to move her. She contracted COVID (again) before the actual move. She had to be cleared of both COVID and scabies for her move! Oh - I almost forgot. Most visits, at least half the staff were sitting in corners staring at their cell phones. There were some very good people working there, that actually spent their time caring for residents, but they tended not to last long. I worry about how many of them took scabies home to their families. Her new memory care home is a significant improvement.

Will not recommend moving your loved ones in very unorganized and dirty

I made my husband a new home at Angels Senior Living at Sarasota. He loves it. He is in assisted living, and he has a one-bedroom apartment. He does a lot of activities. He has made some new friends. He does like it. This place would be a very good option for those looking for a place for their loved ones. The staff they have there are very friendly and helpful. I've tried their food and it's very good. For activities, they have entertainers, comedians, and piano players. They have games, trivia, and bingo. They have movie nights and social hours. We are very happy there.

Excellent staff…caring courteous and professional. What more could you ask for. The Memory Care Director, Shelley, is top notch! I am a local podiatrist who sees residents in the entire facility. Trust this facility to provide the best quality care to you or a family member.

My mom is currently a resident at Angels and it was the best decision we made in moving her here. Mom absolutely loves this place and the ‘angels’ who help her daily. The staff is always friendly, and willing to help when and where needed. My mom needs help pretty regularly lately from minor issues like turning on the tv, to help with dressing. Help is rendered with a smile and a hug. There is a wide variety of entertainment, from hula dancers to sing alongs on a regular basis that not only keep the mind engaged but the spirit as well. I have attended a few and enjoyed myself. More important, I saw the delight in the faces of the residents. They know they are not forgotten here. Oh, the food! Yes, this is important. It is good. I’ve eaten here and always have a delicious meal. Mom loves her meals and she is maintaining her weight. Which is an important factor in senior facilities. In a previous place, mom lost 10 pounds as she hated the food. Is this a safe and healthy place for your parent or loved one? I would give it a huge YES. Suzie and her team work nonstop to make sure our elder relatives are well taken care of.
