Riverside Presbyterian Apartments

Just moved my 96 y.o. mom out after she lived there since August of 2002. She enjoyed the neighbors, bingo, exercise classes and various outings and was a happy elder in her 18th floor apartment with views of downtown and the fire works displays during special occasions. The location at 5 Points is unbeatable: 2 blocks to Publix, Memorial Park on the St John's River and an entrance to i-95. The staff have been so helpful and understanding. Grateful to the manager Katherine and front desk warrior Tammy and maintenance crew. I am forever in your debt and, who knows, when my time comes to give up driving...I may have to move there! It has taken me a while to write this. My mom was a resident of Riverside Presbyterian Apartments in Jacksonville. She passed away at the apartments unexpectedly on 8/26/24. Since it was so close to the end of the month I spoke with the director about timing for getting my mom’s furniture out. She told me “not to worry about it” and I went ahead and paid my mom’s rent for the next month so we’d have extra time. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill on 9/30/24 for $33.37. Since my mom’s rent was subsidized, they increased the rent for the month of October by $369, charged interest of $0.63, and used her security deposit of $335 to cover the majority of it leaving a balance of $33.37. Believe me, if I had known they were going to do this I would’ve managed to have my mom’s apartment cleared out by 8/31. We needed every penny to pay for my mom’s funeral and receiving this bill was such a heartless, tacky, slap in the face. Please, do better. Giving 2 stars because despite this my mom enjoyed living there and made a lot of friends.
