About this community

Grafton House in Saint Augustine, Florida, is identified in third-party directory profiles as an assisted living and board-and-care residence. Those profiles describe care, room options, and household amenities, but do not establish whether the community is currently operating or accepting residents. A real-estate listing identifies the 1925 property as a former assisted-living home that had been vacant for some time and was sold in October 2025. The details here reflect directory and property listings, not confirmation of present-day services or availability.

Care listings describe 24-hour supervision and a 24-hour call system, along with medication management and coordination with healthcare providers. Assistance is listed for bathing, dressing, transfers, and activities of daily living. Profiles also specify non-ambulatory care and wheelchair accessibility; another lists incontinence care and diabetic care. Respite care is among the programs named. English is the caregiver language identified in the profile.

Accommodation information lists shared bedrooms and private rooms, with furnishings and a telephone among stated room features. Household support entries include housekeeping and laundry or dry-cleaning, while move-in coordination is also listed. Transportation arrangements appear in the service information, and transportation and parking are included among amenities. An emergency alert system is listed as well. The profiles do not confirm which room options or services were in place or remain available at the property.

Meal preparation and meal service are listed, along with a dining room and all-day dining. Dietary provisions named in the profile include allergy-sensitive meals, diabetes diets, and other special dietary restrictions. The listings do not specify menus or individual meal arrangements. These food-service details, like the other amenities, should be understood as directory information rather than confirmation of current availability.

Listed recreation and shared spaces include an arts room, a garden, walking paths, and an on-site barber or salon. The activity schedule is described as including daily planned activities, movie nights, and community-sponsored activities or events. Another directory lists indoor common areas, on-site devotional activities, and off-site activities. These profiles name types of spaces and programming but do not establish whether they are currently offered.

A property listing places the house downtown, less than a mile south of the Bridge of Lions and near the River House and Council on Aging; it also describes the property as across from BayView Nursing Home. Directory neighborhood entries place Maria Sanchez Lake about 0.3 miles away, Island Doctors 0.7 miles away, and Memorial Presbyterian Church 0.9 miles away. Winn-Dixie pharmacy and the Oldest Drugstore are each listed about 1.1 miles away. Nearby dining entries include Preserved Restaurant, The Kookaburra, and St. Augustine Fish Camp, listed within roughly a mile. These are location references; listed transportation arrangements do not confirm current service.

My aunt chose this retirement home for my grandmother, death sentence. I should have sued them back then and wish I could go back in time. Furniture fell on her, bed sores set in, died within a year of being there. If you want your loved one to not be taken care of, get bed sores, and their last meal be be a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, this is your place.

Upon entering I was immediately given a tour through the home. While this facility may be smaller, it provides a more one on one feel with the caregivers and residence. I was able to eat steak and mashed potatoes, which is one of the many home cooked meals they provide. Fully serviced like other facilities, however they include internet, private or double rooms, television, laundry and much more. The Grafton house is literally your own home within a home. One thing that really stuck out was how close it is to downtown St. Augustine. Being that it is so close you can enjoy transportation services to downtown, the bay and even the beach. If you are more of the independent person, I would strongly recommend The Grafton House. Not only can you keep your independence, you won't feel rushed, and will have the ability to make everlasting friendships with the friendly staff and residence; The Grafton House is family operated as well.
