My father in law was at Brookdale for almost a year. When we were told the monthly fee would be increasing by over $500 a month we decided to change facilities. In his final week there (February), my mother in law negotiated the bill and wrote a final check. After that check was written, Brookdale then proceeded to charge her additional via auto draft that was over $1000 higher than her previous bill or the $500 and higher than the bill sent. She stopped the paper check, but has yet to receive the refund of the overpayment that was taken via auto draft. We have gone in person and been…

She stopped the paper check, but has yet to receive the refund of the overpayment that was taken via auto draft. We have gone in person and been promised by Ken, the director, that it will be processed. I received a text from Ken on 3/26/26 saying the credit has been sent and asked for expedition. It has now been over 6 weeks since that text and she has still not received the refund owed to her. My mother in law is 80 years old, and should not be dealing with the stress of this facility stealing her money! The last week my father in law was at Brookdale, they allowed him to fall and he received no treatment for the fall while under their care. After he was moved the new facility had him xrayed and it was determined he broke his hip in the fall. Brookdale does not have the staff to accommodate their memory care unit, other patients were regularly going into my father in laws room there and taking his snacks/drinks. Caught sleeping in his bed, and one even urinated on the couch in his room like it was a urinal! Stay far away from Brookdale unless you plan to stay with your loved one 24/7 to ensure their care. And do not ever enroll in auto pay through Brookdale! Ken is a liar, do not trust a word he says!!!

Mom wanted to stay at Brookdale with Hospice services being administered among the staff and friend she looked at as family. The staff and management displayed a great deal of compassion and desire to keep her comfortable as possible to the end. My brother and I would like to thank the staff and management team for all of their help and professionalism during our time of grief.
I would give each a 5. My brother went into assisted living 5 years ago in the middle of COVID. He had a hotel room nothing more, now he's in 2 rooms with a kitchenette apartment, more affordable on a fixed income. The staff is wonderful! He was in the hospital recently and they called him to see how he was doing. Just amazing from the place he was in for 5 years before moving him to Brookdale. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THEIR NAME!
Horrible
When I arrived at Brookdale West Melbourne, they were very welcoming. However, they did not know that a tour had been scheduled, but they made time for me. They showed me a studio and a one-bedroom. The lady that toured me was very knowledgeable and very helpful. She was able to call her salesperson from Brookdale, and that person guided me through and let me know the prices and availability and the specials that were going on. The cleanliness was very good. Everything looked very nice.
I rated 4 for cleanliness based on this being the home of many people who were no longer focused on neatness. If I viewed this as a hotel the rating would be lower. Cleanliness declined for a period in 2023, but the person doing the cleaning in 2024 (I stopped going in July) was really good and consiencious. Only ate there a couple times. Food was plain but fairly good. Able to judge mainly on appearance. Glennis refused almost everything; a manifestation of her dementia. Brookdale tried very hard to find things she would. Fair success for breakfast, not so for rest of meals. I had found one Lean Cousine meal she would eat and provided a copy of that every day for her lunch. Were fewer activities than I originally expected, but I may have been unrealistic. [name removed] declined to participate so I can't really evaluate. I'm very impressed with Wuesthoff Hospice - both with the care they gave [name removed] and with the follow up grief counseling available to me.
Overall experience - we felt lucky to find a place without a waiting list. The move in went well and my aunt was happy. We have no specific issues regarding cleanliness although things can always be better, particularly in the nooks and crannies. My aunt is happy with the cleanliness. The staff are very friendly. We have no issues with this. My aunt seems to get the care she needs. We have no issues with her care. My aunt appreciates the flexibility of the kitchen and their willingness to adapt their menu to her needs. She has no complaints. On occasion I have dined at the facility and found the food somewhat bland. My aunt is 97 and nearly blind so she doesn't participate in most activities. She says that the facility is too quiet and would like more music even if it is just the radio playing in the common area. This is difficult to quantify as we don't have any comparables. We do find it expensive as monthly expenses exceed my aunt's monthly income. Fortunately, she has some savings that can cover the excess costs.
We like the activities for my mom. They really include her in the daily activities and based on the experience we have had, we would recommend them to other families.
