It was so loud you couldn't even hear what the staff was saying outside. It was dark inside. The administrator was clueless. He had no idea we were coming. They're just totally unprepared. I would never let my mother go there. They showed us a menu and most breakfasts were cold cereal. The dining room was very dark. All the window shades were pulled down. I couldn't see outside. My mother-in-law lived at Avalon Park for 3 years prior to her passing in December 2021. She had dementia causing her mind and body to decline during her time there. Avalon's staff and administrator were exceptional at keeping us informed of her status in between our visits. Their COVID rules and restrictions are very much appreciated by us since, even with her deteriorating health, she never got COVID. Her body just decided it was time to rest and she is at peace now. We will be forever grateful to Andrew, Lawrence and staff for their kindness and care of my mother-in-law!!
We saw the Avalon Park Retirement Residence. I would not leave my animal there. I didn't like it at all. The rooms were a 1. If it could be zero, it would be zero. They were dirty, nasty, and there were feces. I don't know how they are even licensed. There's not enough staff in there to tend to all the residents that are there. I was not happy with that at all. The staff during the tour was OK to the best that can be expected. She was knowledgeable about what she was doing, but I was unhappy with the place. It was a horrible experience. We saw the Avalon Park Retirement Residence. I would not leave my animal there. I didn't like it at all. The rooms were a 1. If it could be zero, it would be zero. The staff at Avalon Park Retirement Residence was very friendly and they were very helpful. I also had a chance to look at the different units and they were clean. The folks that I ran into were very nice so it would appear that I would very much consider placing my husband there. I'm still waiting to hear from the owner to see whether or not it's something possible. It's assisted living and the rooms were clean. I got a chance to see different sizes for different accommodation situations and I was pleased with them. They said that they offer haircuts and stuff like that. The room that they used for the activities wasn't really big but it was small and cozy enough so the folks could get to know each other.
The staff were very nice but the facility was much older than the other properties we saw.
I ended up putting my mom in Avalon Park and then they said that she wasn't a good fit, so then I had to take her out of there. If they would have done a better assessment upon my mom living there, we wouldn't have had to go through that. The staff is nice and very attentive. The rooms are really spacious. They had my mom in her own room and it had a community area that she shared with another resident there, so it was really nice. They weren't having activities because of COVID.
Avalon Park is an excellent facility in Hollywood with a fantastic staff and very caring owners. They took great care of my mother for the 3 years she was there and she was treated like family. The place was always very clean and she was very happy there, and I always felt comforted knowing she was safe and in great hands when I wasn’t around. There was constant communication with any important updates and she was provided with sound medical care and supervision. I will be forever grateful to them for the loving compassion the showed my mother!!!!!! Carmen Valdes 7/1/20
Avalon Park Retirement Residence was great, everything during the tour has been very good. The minority of the staff is very nice to my parents. They always check in on them, they check when they eat and if they've done their personal stuff like brush their teeth and so on. Their room has its own living room with 2 beds and a bathroom. It's pretty good. My parents also like their food very much, they play bingo, games, and keep the residents entertained in the dining area. So far, the people have been very accommodating and very nice.
